Estéticas da existência indie: articulações em torno da concepção do mainstream

Resumo

O indie surgiu como experimentações sonoras e criativas que buscavam se afastar do mainstream musical. Essa concepção, aplicada a um gênero musical, pode ser entendida como uma concepção estética. Foucault aponta que a busca por uma estética que legitime a nossa existência é uma prática de constituição do sujeito ético. Por sua vez, fãs de música interagem para discutir, validando ou rejeitando o conteúdo que lhes é direcionado pela indústria musical e os artistas que gostam. A interatividade entre fãs sobre produtos midiáticos os caracteriza como prossumidores, ou seja, consumidores que atuam produtivamente sobre o que consomem. Assim, esta pesquisa se propõe a analisar como as interações prossumeristas de fãs de música indie definem o gênero por meio de uma estética de existência. Para tal, a pesquisa foi realizada por meio de uma netnografia em uma das principais comunidades virtuais de fãs do gênero. Os resultados indicam o exercício de duas estéticas: uma, apresenta o indie como alternativa ao mainstream, forjada nas concepções de liberdade e resistência; outra, atesta o indie como aderente ao mainstream, graças à capacidade de ampliação do acesso ao gênero. Apesar de soarem inconciliáveis, elas se fundam no entendimento de que o indie é belo e que precisa ser preservado a partir de sua relação com a concepção do mainstream
