Abstract

This study examined the relations between organizational and career commitment, performance, and individual perception of commitment management practices in a software development company. A questionnaire was applied through the Internet and obtained 104 responses, representing 10% of all employees. The results showed a high correlation between commitment and perception of commitment management practices. Positive and significant correlation between affective commitment to the organization and self related performance was found. This finding corroborates previously works done in the researched field stating that this relation is the strongest one. Regression analysis was conducted and its findings showed that the commitment-performance link is mediated by several factors, identifying the pact democratic structure as a performance predictor and that it is influenced by commitment.
